WASHINGTON: Right Size Parking
The Right Size Parking Project started in February 2011. The project supported policies that would build more livable communities with reduced parking in multifamily housing developments. The project team assembled local information on multifamily residential parking demand and display it on a dynamic web site to guide parking supply and management decisions in the future. The program also engaged a diverse set of stakeholders, including developers, financiers and public-sector decision makers, to develop technical policy and guidelines that aim to overcome barriers to right sizing parking. Jurisdictions and developers were awarded incentives for actions they took to reduce parking supply or to manage the supply through a range of tools and programs.
