Description After a pilot program discovered 94 percent of crashes could not have been prevented by the driver or the carrier, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration enacted the Crash Preventability Determination Program to keep non-preventable crashes from counting against trucking companies. The program outlines four steps companies can take if an eligible crash occurred on or after August 1, 2019 to prevent the crash from being counted against its safety record.
