According to new data from the American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI), driver detention at customer facilities has increased in recent years. ATRI conducted a survey of over 1,900 drivers and motor carriers between 2014 and 2018 and found the drives experienced a 27% increase in delays of six hours or more. In 2018, more than 79% of respondents reported they were late to or had to cancel their next appointment because of detention. These delays have a huge impact on the entire supply chain. Drivers indicated that using of technology to communicate between the facility and the driver alleviates some of the detention issues. |
