The Federal Highway Research Administration (FHWA) released updated nationwide driving estimates. In 2016, driving on public roads increased for the fifth straight year, topping 3.2 trillion miles. Traffic in the West increased 2.9%. Traffic in the Northeast and North Central states decreased slightly.
