Maryland DOT has applied to the USDOT to designate a portion of Interstate 95 as a future testing and deployment area for automated vehicles. MDOT envisions facilities being ready to test by January 1, 2018 with the idea of achieving a better understanding of the effects of automated and self-driving vehicles.
