Current EPA regulations state that cargo ships within 200 miles of the U.S. coastline must use low-sulfur fuel, such as diesel. In 2020, new international maritime regulations go in to effect mandating cruise lines and cargo ships reduce the pollution that results from their use of high-sulfur fuels. Industry experts believe these regulations will increase the demand for diesel from marine industries, thus driving up the price. |
