CALIFORNIA: goBerkeley Parking and Transportation Demand Management Pilot

goBerkeley seeks to reduce congestion in the City of Berkeley by pursuing a coordinated parking pricing and transportation demand management program. Funded jointly by the FHWA Value Pricing Pilot Program (VPPP) and the MTC Climate Initiatives Program, goBerkeley will encourage employees and visitors to travel by means other than personal vehicle such as biking, walking, transit and carsharing. For those that prefer to drive, the pilot aims to improve the availability of parking by adjusting parking rates to meet demand, improve information for drivers searching for parking, match time limits to parker needs and offer more methods of payment. The parking pilot will include traditional and pilot methods of data collection to gather information on parking demand, turnover, usage characteristics and parker behavior.
