Long Description: Rehabilitation Profile

Diagrams represent cutaway views of the I-35 roadway. At full depth, the existing pavement was layered from bottom to surface as follows:

  • Constructed 1963:
    • 8 inches select material
    • 4 inch sand cushion
    • 9 inch mesh dowel P.C. concrete
  • 1980:
    • OGFC
  • 1991:
    • 3 inch asphalt concrete "F" and 1/2 inch asphalt concrete "E"

The rehabilitated pavement is constructed from bottom to surface as follows:

  • 8 inch fly ash stabilized subgrade
  • 5 inch cement treated base
  • 11.5 inch PJPC concrete pavement

The unbonded concrete overlay of the existing pavement, from the bottom to the surface, is as follows:

  • Constructed 1963:
    • 8 inches select material
    • 4 inch sand cushion
    • 9 inch mesh dowel P.C. concrete
    • 9 inch PJPC concrete pavement
