Interactive Weather Information Tailoring from Private Vendors

Abstract:

This document presents an overview of the relationship between weather products supplied by government and private industry, Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) perceived and future requirements, and user expectations. Limitations of current and near future weather support for ITS are discussed. Barriers in the most cost-efficient application of weather products by decision-makers are pointed out. Examples are provided of an interactive weather information system, currently operational in the U.S. and in Europe.
