Best Practices for Road Weather Management Version 2.0
Title:
Another Rain Delay
Abstract:
Rain, sleet, snow, and fog complicate highway transportation, making driving conditions hazardous and often causing worse-than-normal congestion. This article describes how weather affects roads and congestion and provides examples of road weather management strategies to mitigate weather effects. These strategies include weather-related signal timing, speed management, anti-icing/deicing systems, and flood warning systems.
