Measuring the Impacts of Freight Transportation Improvements on the Economy and Competitiveness

FHWA's Office of Freight Management and Operations (HOFM) is working to develop resources to support States and MPOs in understanding freight and its relationship to U.S. economic competitive and cost. This will help them to better articulate how freight investments and projects impact the economy and to improve project and plan evaluation. While much more work needs to be done in this area of economics, this resource provides guidance, methodology, descriptions of resources and considerations for the effective application of economic analysis for freight.
