Figure 18 is a schematic of a Quadrant Roadway (QR) intersection. It shows how QR intersections work by rerouting all four left-turn movements at a conventional four-legged intersection to a connector roadway in one quadrant. The schematic highlights the connector road and how all four of the left-turning movements are rerouted to use it. Left turns from all approaches are prohibited at the main intersection, which consequently allows a simple two-phase signal operation at the main intersection.
