Figure12 shows a heat map and associated chart of the number of multi-vehicle incidents for 10 routes (both directions) in the Kansas City metropolitan area, taken from the Kansas City Scout Annual Report. In the heat map, road segments are shown in different colors to symbolize the different rates of incidents at each location. The figure illustrates the utility of geographic illustrations in identifying problem locations.
