This photograph shows the roadway leading up to the Main Gate on Fort Hood Army Base and shows a partial view of the three lanes inbound with vehicles queuing at the checkpoint. The picture highlights conditions prior to construction of new access control facilities, as represented by lighting trailers for nighttime operations. Engineers are shown performing a preliminary site analysis after traffic simulation helped them determine the adequate number of lanes entering the Main Gate.
