Traffic Bottlenecks

Combating Bottlenecks

Tennessee

Adding lanes through a tight weaving area to give drivers more room to make better decisions.

Bottleneck Project: 6-mile section of I-65 between log mile 6.8 (north of SR 840) to log mile 12.8 (SR 96) in Williamson County. Traffic entering and exiting the interstate must contend with traffic merging due to the reduction in lanes and change in HOV status. The solution is in the early stages of design for widening. Estimated completion is 2010. The additional lanes should provide relief and better functionality through the weaves and merges.
