Timeline for implementation of new rules

Description

This timeline shows the estimated time requirements for successive actions in the implementation process. The process lasts from the beginning of 2005 until October 12, 2007.

January 2005 to September 2005: FHWA implementation guidance documents developed
September 2005 to February 2006: Update and/or develop work zone safety and mobility policy
February 2006 to August 2006: Update and/or develop angency-level processes and procedures
April 2006 to October 2006: Update and/or develop project-level procedures
October 2006 to January 2007: Identify candidate project(s) for early implementation
January 2007 to July 2007: Implement provisions on early implementation project(s)
March 2007 to August 2007: Develop lessons learned from early implementation(s) (Modify policies, processes, and procedures appropriately)
July 2006 to October 12, 2007: Implement provisions on all projects (with allowance for variances)
