Best Practices for Road Weather Management Version 2.0

Title:

Weather Controlled Road and Investment Calculations

Abstract:

Variable speed limit signs and information boards are being used on an experimental motorway section in Finland. The variable signs are controlled according to weather and road surface conditions. The aim of the experiment is to make traffic more manageable and to improve traffic safety. Based on preliminary estimations it seems that the weather controlled road can be a socio-economically profitable investment.
