Title:

Survival Analysis Based Dynamic Travel Demand Models for Hurricane Evacuation

Abstract:

Two dynamic travel demand models for hurricane evacuation are presented in this paper. The time before evacuation from a pending hurricane was modeled with those that did not evacuate considered as censored observations. Two hazard-based survival analysis models were used to estimate the probability of a household evacuating. Data from Southeast Louisiana collected following Hurricane Andrew were applied. Both models appear capable of modeling dynamic hurricane evacuation travel demand.
