Title:

Increasing Customer Orientation in the Winter Maintenance of Roads

Abstract:

The objective of the study was to establish and compile methods that are in use in different countries for increasing customer-orientation in the winter maintenance of roads. The study was implemented through an online questionnaire. Questions related to a customer satisfaction survey, other possible means of establishing the needs of road-users, maintenance classification and local maintenance as well as information available for road users. The questionnaire was sent to 38 representatives of the member states of PIARC Committee 3.4. The representatives were from 25 different countries: Austria, Belgium, Bhutan, Canada, Chile, Korea, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Morocco, Nepal, Norway, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland and the USA. Responses received for the questionnaire originated from ten different countries.
