Improving Public Response to Hurricane Flooding

Abstract:

Operational procedures include forecasts of the storm-total area average rainfall and its location in south Florida by the Miami Weather Forecast Office (WFO). If guidance from the Southeast River Forecast Center (RFC) indicates potential for flooding, a flood watch is issued. If flooding is imminent a flood warning is issued.
