Best Practices for Road Weather Management Version 2.0

Title:

Implementation and Operational Guidelines for 511 Services, Version 3.0

Abstract:

This document is one of many products developed by the Coalition to support those deploying and considering 511 systems. As with previous versions of these Guidelines, the purpose of Version 3.0 is to assist transportation agencies in establishing this "customer service" in the best possible manner. The Coalition and its member organizations strongly recommend that implementers carefully review and consider these Guidelines in their implementation planning. This document includes guidelines on basic and enhanced road weather condition content. The guidelines indicate that "deployers should include any available weather-related information that could impact a person's travel and attempt to package and deliver the information in a consistent manner. The two keys to weather are relaying impacts and providing navigational references to aid the traveler."
