Best Practices for Road Weather Management Version 2.0

Title:

Defrosting America: Advanced Technology for Anti-icing in the USA

Abstract:

Knowledge of chemical freezing point and the state of the road surface are key for anti-icing practices. Types of sensor technologies are discussed. Vaisala's sensor is covered in detail. Thermal mapping is an established technique for deriving the pavement surface temperature relationship of a complete highway network. Forecast thermal maps are also discussed. Thermal mapping is used on interstate highways in Nevada.
