Figure 2 is an infographic of the Maryland State Highway Administration's (SHA) I–270 upgrade project. The infographic is titled "I–270 – Innovation Driving Maryland from Slow to Go!" The infographic shows how this project will convert the shoulder to a high occupancy vehicle (HOV) lane and the current HOV lane to an express lane. The infographic also details technology for automated smart traffic flow management that the project will deploy including: real-time communication to drivers with dynamic message signs, cameras and sensors that will monitor traffic volumes and communicate with dynamic traffic management, and intelligent signal systems that will optimize traffic flow.
