Behavioral/Agent-Based Supply Chain Modeling Research Synthesis: Model Approaches

Long Description for Figure 1

Model starts with Firm Synthesis (getting data from growth factors, employment data and input-output tables). In this step, establishments are synthesized and annual consumption and production of establishments are developed. The commodity flows model matches buyers and suppliers and then allocates commodity flows to those pairs. The outputs of this model is fed into the transport/logistics chain models step which produces distribution channel, shipments size and frequency and modes and transfers using fuel prices, transfer facilities and modal networks data. Shipment size and frequency feeds modes, transfers and distribution channel in a circle process. Logistics chain model outputs along with shipments data and vehicles/loads information feed into the modal assignment model. These are then assigned to four modes (truck, air, water and rail) in the modal assigments step. These will be on the transportation network and will make the multi-modal network flows. The outputs of the modal assigment feeds back into the transport/logistic chain model with information on transfer facilities and modal networks.
