Figure 2 is graphic of a signalized restricted crossing U-turn Intersection. It's a four way intersection with three median islands; one center trapezoidal island and two long rectangular/oval islands on either side of the center island. North and south intersection of the center islands are signalized and the western intersection of the western island is signalized and the eastern intersection of the eastern island is signalized. Signals on one side of the arterials are independent of the signals on the other side. The east bound and westbound roadways have left turns before the center median U-turns after the side islands. Northbound and southbound roadways have right only turns at the intersections.
