Figure 10 is a graphic showing a continuum of traffic analysis tools from simple to complex. Simpler tools include the categories of Highway Capacity Manual and sketch planning, while the more complex tools include macro-, meso-, and microscopic simulation software. The spectrum further lists various market tools that could be used for each category. It also points out the corresponding functionality, level of detail, development time, training and cost. The resources needed increase as the complexity of the tool increase.
