Figure 1.9 State, Regional, and Local Transportation and Land Use Planning Entities

Figure 1.9 is a chart that lists the agencies and entities responsible for land use and transportation planning at the local, regional, and state levels of government. At the local level, land use planning entities include municipal and county planning departments and zoning officials; and transportation planning entities include municipal or county transportation, highway, and/or public works departments. At the regional level, land use planning entities include regional planning commissions, and transportation planning entities include metropolitan planning organizations. At the state level, land use planning entities include state planning organizations or advocacy groups, and transportation planning entities include state departments of transportation.
