Long Description: Figure 14. Off-tracking was Computed from the Axle Paths in the Previous Figure
Figure 14 shows the difference between the paths of axles 2 through 5 and the steer axle at each point along the roadway. The matrix is organized by offtracking in inches (-20 to 15 inches) by station in feet (0 to 1100 feet), and measures the offtracking from the axle paths for axles 2 - 5. The offtracking path for the control double's 2-5 axles to the target path is tight but does vary for each axle starting at 0 inches offtracking between 0 and 400 feet station. At 400 feet station the axles climb from 0 inches offtracking to 4, 7, 10 and 15 feet, respectively for the 2-5 axles, at 450 feet station. At 450 feet station the axles decline to -2, -7, -10, and -15 inches offtracking, respectively for 2-5 axles at 600 feet station. At 600 feet station, the axles climb to 1, 2, 3, and 5 inches offtracking, respectively for 2-5 axles, at 700 feet station. At 700 feet station the axles decline to -3, -2, -1, and 0 inches offtracking, respectively for 2-5 axles at 775 feet station. At 800 to 1100 feet station, the axle climb to 0 inches offtracking.
