Long Description: Figure C-1. The Low-speed Off-tracking Maneuver
The path to assess low-speed off-tracking is illustrated in Figure C1. The maneuver, conducted at a constant speed of 5 mph, began with a straight path for 60 ft., long enough to establish stable motion. A curve to the right with a radius of 41 ft. began suddenly without an entry spiral. The path continued in the curve for 64.4 ft., which was a bend of 90 degrees. The path returned to a tangent, again without a spiral. The path continued for 105 ft., long enough for all vehicles to resume straight stable motion. The pavement was flat and dry with a coefficient of friction of 0.9.
