Title Large Cargo Ships Bring Big Changes to Port Everglades
Date Posted 11/5/2012
Description The largest cargo ship to ever call port at the Port of Everglades, the MSC Texas, has recently docked at the port. Port officials anticipate that this is the beginning of a trend following the expansion of the Panama Canal. At current time Port Everglades does not have the required draft of 47 feet to accommodate fully loaded vessels of this size; the MSC Texas arrived nearly 2,000 containers short of full capacity. This item discusses upcoming activities Port Everglades plans on completing to ensure competitiveness with other ports in the region following the expansion of the Panama Canal.
