The St. Lawrence Seaway has reopened for the 2012 navigation season following the winter maintenance season as part of the DOT's 10-year Asset Renewal Program, a program to modernize U.S. Seaway infrastructure. In addition to Seaway improvement, several carriers that navigate the Seaway are investing millions of dollars for fleet renewal and new vessels to increase fuel efficiency. Improving both the Seaway and vessels will continue to allow the St. Lawrence Seaway to be a crucial economic artery in North America. |
