Description |
The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) has published a study indicating that the perceived truck driver shortage is likely the result of driver retention rather than a shortfall of people willing to drive trucks. The BLS used three separate techniques to explore the labor market for truck drivers. The investigation found high rates of occupation attachment among truck drivers and that truck drivers respond in the expected manner to differences in earnings across occupations. The investigation also indicated that shortage issues discussed by the industry tend to be concentrated in long-distance truckload motor freight. |
