Eight Midwestern states recently rolled out new technology to help truck drivers find available parking. Truck drivers can often spend over an hour looking for a safe parking spot. This new system has sensors embedded in rest area parking spots which send a message to dynamic roadside signs providing a real time number of available spaces. In addition, drivers can get space counts and pictures of parking lots via their smartphone. By knowing the current parking situation, drivers can better plan their trips. |
