U.S Department of Transportation's Secretary Anthony Foxx made the announcement that U.S. President Barack Obama's fiscal 2017 budget request will include nearly $4 billion over a decade for the development of automated vehicles through pilot projects. Foxx also disclosed policy guidance that updates the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA) 2013 preliminary policy statement on autonomous vehicles.
