This outline map of the 48 contiguous States and insets for Alaska and Hawaii shows areas of recurring peak period congestion on the NHFN in 2012, organized by uncongested, congested, or highly congested. Recurring peak period congestion occurs mostly in the Northeastern United States. Highly congested areas are primarily located in States such as New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, California, Texas, and Illinois.
