This exhibit is an outline map of the 48 contiguous states and insets for Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico showing the individual routes, systems, and connectors that encompass the National Highway System. These include: The Eisenhower Interstate System, The Non-Interstate STRAHNET Route, The STRAHNET Connector, The Intermodal Connector, The Intermodal/STRAHNET Connector, Unbuilt NHS Routes, Other NHS Routes, and MAP-21 NHS Principal Arterials. The map also highlights Census Urbanized Areas and Department of Defense Areas. NHS roads stretch across the entire United States, but are most concentrated on the eastern half.
