Delay, reliability, and similar performance measures are typically based on the difference between speed limits and actual speeds. Speed limits for trucks vary from state to state and differ from limits set for passenger vehicles in nine states.

2Effective July 10, 2007, the posted speed limit is 70 miles per hour (mph) in designated areas on I-75 and I-71.
3The posted speed limit is 70 mph on the Ohio Turnpike.
4In sections of I-10 and I-20 in rural West Texas, the speed limit for passenger cars and light trucks is 80 mph. For large trucks, the speed limit is 70 mph in the daytime and 65 mph at night. For cars, it is also 65 mph at night.
5Portions of I-15 have a posted limit of 80 mph.
6Effective July 1, 2010, the posted limit may be as high as 70 mph where indicated by lawfully placed signs, erected subsequent to a traffic engineering study.
