Trucks are by far the largest contributor to freight emissions nationally, producing two-thirds of NOx and PM-10 from the freight sector. New U.S. Environmental Protection Agency emissions standards for trucks are expected to significantly reduce emissions, however, even with large increases in truck traffic.
