A line chart with three lines: one for the world, one for Asia, and one for Europe for the years 1978 through 1995. The world line begins at approximately 13 percent in 1978, falls to 1 percent in 1981, rises to 10 percent in 1982, 19 percent in 1983, falls to 12 percent in 1984, rises steadily to 35 percent in 1988, falls to 28 percent in 1989, and then stays at about that level, rising and falling a few percent, but finishing at 28 percent in 1996. The Asia line starts at 61 percent in 1978, fall precipitously to 9 percent in 1980, rises to 30 percent in 1983, before falling again to 20 percent in 1985, then rising steadily to 88 percent in 1990, and then falling a little to end on 68 percent. The Europe line starts at 25 percent in 1978, falls to 11 percent in 1980, then rises to 28 percent in 1983, falling back to 20 percent in 1985, rising again to 50 percent in 1988, falling to 10 percent in 1993, and ending on 23 percent in 1996.
