Statewide and Regional Architecture Development as of October 1, 2003

Each architecture, either statewide or regional, is categorized in one of five levels of development or architecture status. These levels are:

Ready for Use - Work on the regional ITS architecture (RA) completed or nearing completion. Characteristics of this group may include, but are not limited to:

  • List of agency agreements have been developed;
  • Applicable ITS Standards have been identified;
  • Regional architecture is used to support the planning process, and/or to develop the TIP/STIP;
  • Regional architecture is used to support project implementation;
  • Lead maintenance agency and maintenance process has been identified.

Under Development - Work on the regional ITS architecture (RA) has started. Characteristics of this group may include, but are not limited to:

  • RA consultant Request for Proposals (RFP) is under development;
  • RA work is underway;
  • RA documentation is complete nor nearing completion.

Have Not Started - It has been determined that based on the Final Rule criteria this area does require the development of a regional ITS architecture, but work has not started at this time.

Not Needed - There are no foreseeable ITS projects or initiatives with any integration implications in this area, therefore the development of a regional ITS architecture is not needed at this time.

Not Known - It is not known at this time if the area identified will be required to develop a regional architecture or will be part of a larger regional architecture area.
