Best Practices for Road Weather Management Version 2.0

Title:

WeatherShare Project Plan: Version 2.0 Baseline

Abstract:

This document is a baseline project plan, presenting the goal and objectives of the WeatherShare project from a global perspective and highlighting the high-level strategic decisions associated with the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of the proposed system. The goal of the WeatherShare project is to streamline and integrate currently available road weather data in the Northern California area into one single source easily accessible by incident responders and potentially the traveling public. The pilot system is expected to increase the efficiency of situation assessments for a variety of purposes, including incident management, highway maintenance, emergency medical services, traveler information, and, possibly, homeland security applications. Variation of the user interface will depend on the user's needs and specifications.
