Title:

The Potential Impacts of Climate Change on Transportation

Abstract:

In October 2002 the U.S. Department of Transportation Center for Climate Change and Environmental Forecasting (the Center) hosted a workshop of leading experts and decision makers in transportation and climate change. The purpose was twofold: to discuss the potential impacts of climate change on transportation, and to gain input and perspectives on the research necessary to better understand these impacts. This report provides a summary of the workshop and the research recommendations generated by participants. This summary is followed by eighteen discussion papers that address various aspects of the relationship between climate change and transportation, and suggest opportunities for further study.
