Title:

R/WIS Architecture for Integration and Expansion

Abstract:

Due to rapidly changing technologies and associated increased costs, implementation of an R/WIS (Road/Weather Information System) must be carefully planned. This paper proposes a hierarchical layered architecture allowing easy integration of new and legacy technologies and expansion to a larger system. A prototype of this model was implemented in Minnesota DOT District 1.
