Title:

Advanced Weather Systems for Railroad Winter Operational Needs

Abstract:

Recent developments in weather observation, analysis and forecasting techniques as applied to aviation and highway transport may also be useful for rail transport weather problems. The purpose of this paper is to review selected advanced weather observation and information systems and thier use by road and air transport. Suggestions are made of how railroads could benefit by adopting these or similar technologies to their own operational weather needs.
