Title:

ITS Technology to Support Snow and Ice Control on Expressways

Abstract:

This paper studies a general framework of snow and ice control measures using ITS technology, and describes the results of field tests of technological components. It was confirmed that continuous observation of road surface with on-vehicle sensors, position identification with GPS, and sophisticated use of information via road-vehicle communications were effective.
