Title:

I-68 Fog Detection System Planning Report

Abstract:

Reduced visibility caused by fog resulted in severe crashes on I-68 near Big Savage Mountain in May 2003. This project is to install a fog detection system that will identify low visibility conditions and notify approaching drivers before they encounter it. In this paper, similar projects and technologies are reviewed. The two existing RWIS stations are analyzed and a new station is proposed. The recommended system will make maximum use of the existing infrastructure.
