Title:

Evaluation of Alaska's 511 Phone System and Website: User Surveys

Abstract:

Alaska was the eleventh statewide and the sixteenth overall 511 system to be deployed. The information currently provided on this system includes road conditions, weather forecasts, construction and ferry information. ADOT&PF contracted with the Western Transportation Institute to evaluate the system's effectiveness and identify areas for improvement. The evaluation consists of three components: (1) performance statistics, (2) user (external) surveys, and (3) internal surveys. This technical memorandum summarizes the result of the user surveys portion of this evaluation. The features ranked as most important included winter road conditions on highways, construction and maintenance information on highways, and weather forecasts.
