Title:

A Model for Calculating Pavement Temperatures from Meteorological Data

Abstract:

This report describes a model that can be used to predict pavement temperatures from past climatological records. The model is based on a one-dimensional thermal diffusion equation. The required inputs to the model are described and their relative importance is assessed by a sensitivity analysis. The performance of the model is assessed by comparing pavement temperatures calculated from meteorological records with measured pavement temperatures and it is shown to be capable of accurate prediction.
