Title:

Developing a Method to Predict Road Surface Temperatures: Applying Heat Balance Model Considering Traffic Volume

Abstract:

Our research group works in developing a method for surface-icing forecast with applying a heat balance model, with the intention of providing "strategic snow and ice control" which takes the proactive winter maintenance strategy. This paper describes the research framework and attempts to demonstrate how the heat balance model developed here works to predict road surface temperature.
