Commuter Choice is a nationwide initiative encouraging employers to offer a broad range of commuting options to their employees. Supported by the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Environmental Protection Agency, Commuter Choice is a voluntary government/business/community partnership.
With Commuter Choice, employees have more choice in traveling to and from work and accomplishing their work - whether it is transportation options (i.e., public transportation, carpools), or technology options (i.e., telecommuting). Commuter Choice has broad benefits:
Employers benefit
from creating a more employee-friendly business environment, improved
competitive advantage, and more productive employees.
Employees benefit since
getting to work is easier, more affordable, and more employee-friendly
(i.e., sensitive to commute and lifestyle demands and needs).
Communities benefit
through more efficient use of the transportation system, reduced traffic-congestion,
and improved air quality.
